  • Probably Actually It’s a perfect little collared sweatshirt that can be made in a full or half zip, with options for side seam pockets or a split side-seam with lower back hem. A basic, well-designed zip-up sweatshirt is such a useful pattern to have in your collection. The fit is great, the details are professional, and what kid wouldn’t want to wear it? This one is a total crowd pleaser.

  • Sew a Straight Line This pattern by Titchy Threads for Willow & Co is just too good. The zipper installation is some sort of wizardry, and makes everything look totally finished inside and out.

  • Nearest the Pin I’ve read many great reviews of her previous pattern, the Small Fry Skinny Jeans, commenting on her thorough instructions and impeccable drafting. I have to say that both are true for this pattern. Some of the techniques in this pattern are tricky – particularly getting the half zip and facings to sit neatly – but Laura’s instructions are great, she goes into plenty of detail and there are great photos.

This pattern is not quick to sew and certainly took me longer than I initially expected. However, the level of professionalism in the finished product is at a level that I am surprised I was able to achieve. In my opinion, it really is worth the investment of time. I’m really thrilled with the outcome and I know that the more of these I make the quicker I will get.

"I cannot say enough good things about this pattern! The instructions are clear and the finish is so neat and clean. It’s not often a finished garment is as pretty on the inside as the outside!" - Amy

"This really is an excellent pattern and tutorial. It was my first time putting in a zipper (I did the half-zip), pockets, and a few of the other techniques, but my finished garment looks amazing inside and out. The fit is also fantastic. Laura’s tutorial walked me through everything and I can’t wait to make another!" - Bethany

"I love this pattern. The end result is very cute and you can add your own touches to it, making the pattern very versatile. I made this for my daughter and promptly got orders from the two older brothers. The instructions were clear and the end product looks even nicer than a store bought garment. The designer was very nice and professional to work with when questions did arise due to me having a lapse in understanding" - imechard

I love the instructions on installing the zipper, it gives the sweatshirt a very professional finish. DD loves her sweatshirt and her younger brother and sister all want matching ones too." - candymak

"This pattern is excelent. I love the outcome! It looks like a store bought sweatshirt… It is very easy to sew and the instructions are so clear… It looks great in the inside too. I have made my first Hawthorn in a french terry knit – it is so light and perfect for Spring and Summer’s chilly weather! This pattern is suitable for both boys and girls (I made a girly Hawthorn in a floral print!) so this pattern is a money saver for sewing moms!" - Sara Soares

"I strongly recommend this sweatshirt. The result is incredibly professional and the tutorial is one of the best I’ve seen. Easy to follow, full of pictures to make sure you understand every step… And the most important: it fits really well!" - fatima.fraile
